Folks you should really read this artcile, people across the United States are going homeless because of lack of jobs, all the while Amrica screams help Haiti it is an emergyncy, but what about your nighbors I mean these ones at home? The misconception is that the people in the street want to be there, so sad as that is just not the case, some say it is the job of the salvation army, no it is teyh job of the Body of Messiah to care one for another, we are our brothers keepers, besides the salvation army is mostly full and has strick guidlibes for getting in.
A woman in Wichiat has little hope if shegoes homeless as most all places are full, in fact ministries are having to cut back because of loss of funding or even close, all the while we feel sorry for Haiti but ignore those that are right under our noses……
Churches should spend most of their money after bills on the POOR and trying to get those saved around them.
In a couple of days our phones will be off, the net will be turned off and the lights will go out, why because ????????????

Suburban homeless: Rising tide of women, families

ROOSEVELT, N.Y. (AP) – Homelessness in rural and suburban America is straining shelters this winter as the economy founders and joblessness hovers near double digits—a “perfect storm of foreclosures, unemployment and a shortage of affordable housing,” in one official’s eyes.
“We are seeing many families that never before sought government help,” said Greg Blass, commissioner of Social Services in Suffolk County on eastern Long Island.
“We see a spiral in food stamps, heating assistance applications; Medicaid is skyrocketing,” Blass added. “It is truly reaching a stage of being alarming.”
The federal government is again counting the nation’s homeless and, by many accounts, the suburban numbers continue to rise, especially for families, women, children, Latinos and men seeking help for the first time. Some have to be turned away.
“Yes, there has definitely been an increased number of turnaways this year,” said Jennifer Hill, executive director of the Alliance to End Homelessness in suburban Cook County, Illinois. “We’re seeing increases in shelter use along the lines of 30 percent or more.”
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s annual survey last year found homelessness remained steady at about 1.6 million people, but the percentage of rural or suburban homelessness rose from 23 percent to 32 percent. The 2009 HUD report, which reflected the 12 months ending Sept. 30, 2008, also found the number of sheltered homeless families grew from about 473,000 to 517,000.
Greta Guarton, executive director of the Nassau-Suffolk Coalition for the Homeless on Long Island, led a recent group of about 40 volunteers to scour vacant lots and industrial parks for this year’s HUD survey; results are expected in several months.
“One of the things that we’ve noticed is a lot more unsheltered, mostly men who claim this is the first time they’ve been homeless, who indicate that it’s due to a loss of wages or loss of job, because of the economy,” Guarton said.
Stephanie Hawkins, who lost her manager’s job when a shelter for drug addicts and alcoholics closed last summer, is now among about a dozen or more “guests” living in a different kind of Long Island shelter—this one for women who have nowhere else to go.
“I lost my job and I lost my home,” said Hawkins, 44, fighting tears. Her issues are compounded by a cancer diagnosis that requires chemotherapy. “I lived where I worked.”
Nery Nij came to the United States from Guatemala six years ago. For much of that time he was a landscaper, manicuring the lawns of million-dollar seaside Hamptons estates. Most nights this winter, Nij joins dozens of day laborers and others who are provided shelter in church basements and auditoriums across eastern Long Island.
“There’s just no work,” Nij says in Spanish through an interpreter. “It’s a big challenge. If you have no work, you have no rent. If you have no rent, you’re out on the street.”
Naiquan Pritchett says he was devastated when he lost his job in construction about four months ago. His bills quickly mounted and he now lives in a Long Island shelter for men. “I had been doing construction for nine years,” Pritchett said.
The crunch is seen in suburbs around the country.
Northeast of Atlanta, foreclosures rose 77 percent from 2008 to 2009, said Suzy Bus of the Gwinnett County Coalition for Health and Human Services. About 60 percent of the county’s homeless are children 9 and younger, she said.
“People equate homeless to a guy under a bridge, but it’s a lot more complex than that, and it permeates much further into our society than a lot of people realize,” Bus said.
When families lose their homes and relocate, their children’s schooling can be disrupted. Some move into extended-stay hotels that cost about $175 a week, but that sometimes exposes them to criminal activity like prostitution and drug deals, Bus said.
In Coatesville, Pa., a former steel town of about 11,000 outside Philadelphia, the City Gate Mission added five beds to its shelter in November 2008. But director Jim Davis said that even with 21 beds, the shelter has still had to turn people away on many nights.
“There was a period of time recently where maybe as many as five people a day they would say no to by phone,” Davis said.
Even in the Hamptons, a summer playground for millionaires, demand is increasing for homeless services, according to Denis Yuen, director of Maureen’s Haven, a consortium of 25 churches on eastern Long Island. Churches alternate hosting the homeless on different nights, offering cots or inflatable beds and hot meals.
“This year we saw an influx of Latinos, some of whom had not worked in four or five months,” Yuen said. “They are living hand-to-mouth, depending on soup kitchens. Before this, they at least had a little work.”
Nadia Marin-Molina, executive director of the Workplace Project, a Latino advocacy group, said undocumented workers from Mexico or Central America have limited access to government-run shelters and depend on groups like Maureen’s Haven.
She said more must be done to determine how many homeless don’t benefit from either government or community aid. Part of the problem is that some undocumented live in fear of deportation and therefore avoid any interaction with authorities.
“There isn’t an understanding of how many people are living in the woods,” she said.
Daphne Haynes, who has operated the Peace Valley Haven shelters in Roosevelt, Long Island, finds homeless people seeking warmth in 24-hour coin-operated laundries, huddled behind shopping centers and in retail stores.
“Most of the problem I noticed with homeless that come stay with us is their family don’t want to be bothered with them,” Haynes said.
Tom Sweeney worked in private security for 25 years before the company folded. Now he stays at Peace Valley Haven.
“I didn’t have any money saved,” said Sweeney, who admitted battling drug and alcohol abuse in the past. “You gotta hustle to get something to eat, panhandle, do whatever you can. If you can find a warm bed, take it, because being on the street ain’t life as it’s supposed to be.”

First off I have no TV video to offer this year, the last 3 years we have had channel 3 cover what we do but not this year, such is the way of things.

This last year while helping more people, new people, we have been quieter to the city about the conditions of the homeless.

You see for the last 10 years since we started the same things always happens, people bring forward the knowledge of the problems of the homeless but then the agencies step forward and tell everyone that they have it under control.

The last best effort was put forward a few years ago when AECH was started, at one point many people were involved and ready to fund raise and go forward on a 24/7 shelter but an agency convinced the people that they should wait and people lost interest.

Also the city came forward with a task force to cure the problem and AECH decided to wait on the results, of course no new shelter was proposed, as on the task force were people from the agencies that would be hurt by a new shelter.

So AECH was let down and the momentum was stopped.

Praise the Lord, AECH now the last 2 years have fund raised for the overflow to let in anyone in and to be open 5 months instead of the traditional 3 months of winter. So a big hand for AECH!

Also still there are people that will come in an overflow for more than one reason, like the way they had been treated in the past, some are mental and cannot handle crowds, many reasons some just stay out under the bridges.

This year we had a very good time, we say many new faces from people who recently became homeless due to the economy. At dinnertime there was not a chair left and some just came and got a plate and left, we served over a 100 plates of food a little less than last year I think but mom always knows the numbers better than I do.

On new fellow was talking to me trying to describe how we were different, it went something like this Well there the other places that feed want you to well just eat and get out quick, then others that do let you stay just have well rules, or its hard to explain and here it like well.Family, everything is relaxed and its well like family

And this is what we mean we give them a family atmosphere, that is a Godly Family atmosphere we make them feel warm and wanted. They know that we are different as HIS people should be and so this makes them come to us asking for prayers and guidance.

Some told us this was the best Thanksgiving they ever had, consider that with the very crowded manner in which we are.and it was the best they ever had

And yes we stayed over, we had 33 to 35 people staying over and yes that was allot on the floor, I can put roughly 50 on the floor as I have in the past. No one complained about blankets on a hard floor!

Of course I want to thank all that donated to Thanksgiving, may the Lord Yeshua bless and keep you.

I am sad about one thing, I had hoped more money would have came in from me being on Raiders News Network as I wanted to buy shoes, hats, and gloves for the people, now no way unless a miracle happens as that alone is $3,000.

We need to pray in the money for December bills that are coming in before they come to shut offs. We do not want to get behind like we was in October where we really almost shut down. Thanksgiving marks our 11th year Amen (inside a building, we fed outside a few months before going inside), and yes I am broke except for a $25 donation I received yesterday.

Lift us in prayer and please help if you can,

Why do some Jews refer to God as “Hashem”?

If you spend time around observant Jews, you probably know that Hashem, literally “The Name,” is a common way to refer to God. Why do people use this appellation?

True, on one hand it is forbidden (By Rabbi’s and not the Bible, it is what we call a “fence” built around Torah out of the fear of breaking Torah so a fence is built around the commandment so it is for sure not broken, over time the tradition or fence became Law with the Jews, PD) to pronounce the actual four-letter name of God (Yud Heh Vav Hey). But a deeper reason for saying “Hashem” is because that is the essence of our relationship with God. To explain:

Nobody walks around calling themselves by their own name. I don’t say, “Jon is going to eat breakfast and then Jon will go to work.” Rather I would say, “I’m going to eat breakfast and then I’ll go to work.” The only people who talk about themselves in the third person (and get away with it) are egocentric athletes, politicians, etc. Even in English we call it “third person” — not first, not even second, but third. It suggests a distancing from an intimate relationship.

A handle is not the essence.
A name essentially only exists for the benefit of the outsider. People don’t identify themselves by their names — that’s why names are also called “handles.” As in, your AIM or Google-chat handle. (Anyone remember CB radios?) A handle is something outside the very essence of the thing, but exists so that other people can hold it. A coffee mug has a handle — not to contain the coffee (the mug’s real purpose), but so that you can have a relationship with the mug which allows you to partake in its coffee.

Human beings are no different. We don’t have a big relationship between our identity and our name, but other people do. An indication of this is how we can meet someone that shares our name, and have a very clear separation between us and them. I have a very good friend named Jon. In fact, when I think of the name Jon, I don’t think of myself. I think of him!

Finite World

So why do we say “Hashem?” If names are there to help those who say it and not the person or object being named, then why don’t we call God by His true name (YKVK)? Why the distant appellation, “The Name”?

The name you choose to call someone by indicates the relationship you have with them. Knowing God is infinite should humble us and remind us of the endless limitations we have as humans. The four-letter name of God (YKVK) that is written in our prayers is never pronounced phonetically because that name represents the infinite aspect of God which is beyond human comprehension. That name is really a combination of three Hebrew words: Haya, Hoveh and Yeheyeh – past, present, and future. The idea isn’t just that God was is and always will be, but that He transcends time. In other words, God exists in the past, present and future — simultaneously.

Being stuck in a finite world, this is something we cannot fully comprehend, but the concept of God being Infinite is something so powerful and humbling that just saying “Hashem” (The Name) helps us do two things: One, it evokes awe by reminding us of the infinity of God as reflected in the four-letter Name; and two, it distances us from this concept to remind us of our own limitations.

Reminding ourselves of our own limitations is a great thing. It brings us to rely on that which does not have limitations, namely God. Healthy dependence is a great way to build a relationship which, after all, is the essence of our job here on Earth — to forge a relationship with the Creator.

Intimacy through Names

Imagine a city in the middle of a war. The dirt flying in the air. Missiles overhead. Everything in chaos. The smell of chemicals permeating the thick fog that has become the sky and civilians running through the streets in confusion, in panic — a living nightmare. A doctor runs across the blood stained streets looking for people he can help, wounds he can heal just enough to get people back on their feet so they can keep running, keep living. He tends to a man bleeding from a piece of shrapnel, when he suddenly hears someone call out, “Doctor.”

A short distance away he sees the woman calling out. She is hurt and in need of immediate attention. But as soon as he runs toward her, he hears another voice: “David!” He looks over to see his neighbor on the ground with a serious injury. No sooner than two steps into the neighbor’s direction, a small voice pierces through the sweaty air and whispers, “Dad.” The doctor is paralyzed for a moment before looking for his son amidst the rubble.

“Hashem” is the Jewish people’s way of saying Dad.
To most people, the man in the story was an anonymous person running around the streets — until someone saw him performing a medical act. Then he became “Doctor.” To his neighbor, however, he was “David,” a name that suggests an attachment that forced him to care just a little bit more. And when he heard “Dad” come through the thick fog, he was paralyzed.

This is the power of a name. It defines the relationship we have with the person and forces us to treat them in a particular way.

“Hashem” is the Jewish people’s way of saying Dad. Dad is not the person’s legal name, it’s not their Hebrew name, it’s not their business title. It’s shorthand. It’s a way to say that we, as Jews, have a nickname for You, God. It’s a nickname that suggests both intimacy and respect, like the appellation “Dad.” It’s a way to tell your father that you love him, but that you still understand he’s the father, he’s in charge.

Likewise with Hashem: We love You and feel close to You. And at the same time recognize our distance and Who is really in charge.

Netanyahu Heads to U.S. Under Threat of Palestinian Statehood Declaration

Concerns are growing in Israel’s government over the possibility of a unilateral Palestinian declaration of independence within the 1967 borders, a move which could potentially be recognized by the United Nations Security Council.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently asked the administration of U.S. President Barack Obama to veto any such proposal, after reports reached Jerusalem of support for such a declaration from major European Union countries, and apparently also certain U.S. officials.

The reports indicated that Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad has reached a secret understanding with the Obama administration over U.S. recognition of an independent Palestinian state. Such recognition would likely transform any Israeli presence across the Green Line, even in Jerusalem, into an illegal incursion to which the Palestinians would be entitled to engage in measures of self-defense.

In late August Fayyad presented the international community with a detailed plan for building up Palestinian Authority institutions and set a timetable of up to two years for its implementation. Senior Israeli officials said Fayyad’s plan initially met with positive reaction in Jerusalem for its emphasis on institution-building and making security services more efficient.

But some Israeli officials told Haaretz that alongside the clauses reported in the media – which are similar to elements of Netanyahu’s call for “economic peace” between Israel and the Palestinians – Fayyad’s plan also contains a classified, unreleased portion stipulating a unilateral declaration of independence.

The plan specifies that at the end of a designated period for bolstering national institutions the PA, in conjunction with the Arab League, would file a “claim of sovereignty” to the UN Security Council and General Assembly over the borders of June 4, 1967 (before the outbreak of the Six-Day War, during which Israel took control of the West Bank and Gaza).

Fayyad is also seeking a new Security Council resolution to replace Resolutions 242 and 338 in the hope of winning the international community’s support for the borders of a Palestinian state and applying stronger pressure on Israel to withdraw from the West Bank.

Several Israeli officials told Haaretz that Fayyad had spoken to them of positive responses he had received over the plan from prominent EU member states, including the United Kingdom, France, Spain and Sweden. Fayyad added that he presented the proposal to the U.S. administration and did not receive any signal of opposition in response.

Netanyahu’s “kitchen cabinet” has held a number of meetings on the matter in recent months. “It’s a very dangerous move,” said a senior Israeli foreign-policy official. “More and more cabinet ministers understand that diplomatic inaction on Israel’s part is likely to bring international support for the Fayyad program.”

Israeli sources said Netanyahu discussed the proposal in meetings with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and special Mideast envoy George Mitchell and requested that the U.S. tell Fayyad that it would not support his proposal and would veto it in the Security Council. Netanyahu has yet to receive a clear response from Washington on its stance on Fayyad’s plan.

Netanyahu is to arrive in Washington today for a brief visit. He is scheduled to address the United Jewish Communities General Assembly, preceded by Defense Minister Ehud Barak.

On Tuesday Netanyahu is to fly to Paris, where he is scheduled to meet with President Nicolas Sarkozy on Wednesday. The prime minister’s Paris visit comes just two days before that of Syrian President Bashar Assad, who will also meet with Sarkozy. Netanyahu has not signaled interest in renewing negotiations with Damascus, but stagnation in talks with the Palestinians may force him to do so.

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, a mediator between Israel and Syria during Ehud Olmert’s term as prime minister, said Friday in Paris that Turkey seeks to resume its role as an intermediary between the two countries, and that his government can be an “honest broker” in such talks.

Netanyahu has expressed reluctance over Turkish mediation due to ongoing diplomatic tension between Ankara and Jerusalem.

Hello Pastor Dan,

I will be sending this to Walid Shoebat, and thought you would apprecaite it as well.

Just last week I held a seminar presenting the mark of the beast as does Walid Shoebat. For me it is no longer a guess or possibility, but makes total sense, because it is the satanic counterfeit as Hebrews were commanded to mark themselves on the FOREHEAD and ARM, with God’s word to remind them of God’s faithfulness.

The Law dictates they should be worn by Hebrews to serve as a “SIGN” and “remembrance” that God brought the children of Israel out of Egypt. Therefore, it was a sign of deliverance.

Here are the passages I found:

Therefore the Hebrews developed Tefillin, (Hebrew: תפילין‎), also called phylacteries, black leather boxes containing scrolls of parchment inscribed with verses from the Bible. The hand-tefillin, or shel yad, is worn by Hebrews wrapped around the arm, hand and fingers, while the head-tefillin, or shel rosh, is placed above the forehead.

They were OUTWARD symbols representing the inward reality of the heart and mind trusting in God’s mighty arm of deliverance.

Under the New Covenant we are sealed or marked by the HOLY Spirit, a sign of His people who trust in His ownership and DELIVERANCE, the Right hand of God, Messiah Himself. Ephesians 4:30

At the end of the age, when God pours out His divine warth from heaven, ….before He does, 144,000 Jews are SEALED, thus protected and NOT harmed from God’s wrath. Revelation 7. They are preserved for a future deliverance.

In Revelation 14: 1-3 , these 144,000 redeemed Jews are marked on the foreheads with the FATHER’S NAME.

Therefore, the MARK of God is a sign of OWNERSHIP and of DELIVERANCE in His NAME we accept humbly and willingy, just as Jews did according to the law, and Christians do now.

In contrast, the mark of the beast is going to be forced on people and if they refuse it means death. Those who accept will reject Messiah, and live but only for a little while, having surrenderd to Allah. YHWH sees it as a sign of OWNERSHIP and DESTRUCTION having Alla’s name written on their foreheads.

I have attached a a few graphics I found online, Arabic script, meaning:” In the name of Allah”. I also attached the Greek text for “666″ in the Codex Vaticanus in 350 AD with the 2 swords to the left. The only difference is the Greek text has the symbol in the vertical position, whereas Arabic is horizonal. According to Chuck Missler, the vertcial version has also been found in Arabic in Iraq.

Greetings,
Recently I was on TV in Wichita, Kansas, it was a popular lunchtime talk program. I had a little over 6 minutes to say who I was and talk about the ministry, which was really okay because they gave my web site and other contact info.

I mainly went on the air to beg for coats, not new ones, just used coats for the people. The response was about the same I always get from Wichita, I got more people coming for help and no coats oh wait a minute one of the people I help gave an old coat.

The Positive note is that some goodhearted people in Wichita are finding the homeless and giving out some coats and new blankets. Now the overflow will be open come November 1st which is three second year for being open 5 months of the year instead of just 3.
We did overflow the year before they started this. It was really fun as I just lived with the homeless a month before they started and a month after. Oh yes a little in December because they were not letting everyone in.

You see it is getting colder sooner as we are in a real period of global cooling, I think anyone can see that but if you listen to the informed media and the people in the White house it is global warming.

We have always made it a point to help fill the gap in services others do not, a big job by just a family ministry. No complaints.
All our funding comes from out of state and out of the country. Wichita for some reason just will not support what we do, well the poor love us and some not poor do, but support us no that would give me a heart attack I think.

Right now we had to stop the food pantry as that NOW requires a grocer’s license, yep we were just informed that from the food bank. I wonder just how many Churches have one for their food pantries? Or how many will get one?

There are I have noticed some small Wichita based churches and single people outreaches that give out food but I really do not think that they will be able to get a license or will. Wow and it is the poorer ministries that really help the poor in the gap in services. So for the record we no longer get free sweets and will now have to pray full price for the food we serve in our fellowship meals, but we paid full price for food for 9 years, only getting food from the food bank for the last year, we are in our 10th year of helping the poor in Wichita.

We have had so many people coming and asking for cold meds as this is another gap, can you imagine living outside with the swine flu? We are giving much in meds and prayers while it lasts, but right now we are running on zero. We have mostley shut offs on everything, if we are meant to go on in this 10th year then well it’s up to the Father.

Wichita just build a new arena, wow…..right down the block about 7 from us. This is called the old town area, they have been trying to get the homeless out of the downtown area because of the old town area, you see people with money do not wish to see them.

The Police are told to tell them move on but without telling them where to move on to. In 2008 they completed a study saying that there was a need for more beds but not providing any.

In fact if you are a woman in Wichita and you go homeless it would be a very rare thing to find a bed, really, I have to counsel women just going homeless all the time and have to tell them the only place for them is the street…Really.

Anyway we are told by certain people that the police have said that there will be no homeless downtown when the arena opens? Hmm this is really not legal but who can do anything about it.

Well keep us in prayer and if you are in Wichita DO not get homeless……..that is if you can help it.
